縱橫四海

 砵仔糕(周潤發 飾)、阿占(張國榮 飾)和紅豆(鐘楚紅 飾)均是孤兒,在養父(曾江 飾)栽培下成為國際大盜。長大后成了幫他賺錢的藝術品大盜,而三人同時又認了警察(朱江 飾)為干爹。法國巴黎博物館內,名畫《赫林之女仆》被人盜走。與此同時,阿海、阿占和紅豆三人以敏捷身手盜得另一幅名畫,在與法國大哥交易時得知名畫《赫林之女仆》在妖氣重重的古堡內,他們在曾江安排下成功地盜取此畫之后,反被集團原兇曾江與法國大哥合謀設下陷阱,派人追殺滅口。阿海駕車與殺手快艇相撞……三人失散,數年后,他們在香港重聚,阿?!鞍c瘓”住在朱江家里,阿占和紅豆已經結婚了。曾江又逼他們去偷畫……

好像一切都很糟糕

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night.   However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements.   Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
